Details:One of the 7 herbs of spring, haru-no-nanakusa. These are considered a sign of spring to come and all appeared in the Manyoshu, an poetry anthology dating from 759. The leaves of the seven herbs were gathered 7 days after the lunar New Year and added to rice.
